Prāņāyāma

breathing techniques

I am dedicated and passionate about helping people to manage their breathing. This is at the heart of my work. Your breath impacts all systems of your body and mind and needs focus and care. Prāņāyāma is an ancient tradition, part of yoga, that helps to prepare a steady ground for meditation. It is based on a regular and deep practice of different techniques that extend the breath, impact the level of energy, and, through kriyas, cleanse systems of the body to achieve a greater level of balance and bodily function.

On an external level the practice of Prāņāyāma impacts the regulation of your biology. Balancing your breathing pattern will lead to improved health, better sleep, release of pressure on your nerves to shift from an over-dominant sympathetic nervous system, overloaded through stress and anxiety, to shift to an emphasis on your parasympathetic nervous system to enhance balance and rejuvenation,  digestion and elimination, feeling good.

On an internal level classic Prāņāyāma is genuine spiritual development as a key element in the yoga path of meditation. It is a gradual process of refining your attention to direct within to explore all internal conflicts and blockages that interfere with the unfolding of your own energetic life force (prana). When done correctly and progressively, at a level appropriate to you, based on non-diluted techniques, can lead to a purification of energy channels (nadis). Prāņāyāma practiced correctly helps you to refine the function of the breath with a sharp attention to gradually reveal to you any blockage that holds you back so you can experience the truth of your freedom.

Through a step-by-step training in Prāņāyāma you as the student are guided to develop your connection to the inner technique through attunement with vital areas in your body: the diaphragm; pelvic floor; abdominal cavity and internal organs; upper and low abdomen in breathing; the sacrum; and the spine and its support – lead to a combined effective performance of the practice. Often these areas are where fears, confusion, taboos, excessive tension, “butterflies in the stomach”, overly contracted muscles reveal themselves. Regular practice aids release and leads to balance on both biological and energetic levels that stimulates your vitality and clarity of mind.

The positive shift from this work impacts your daily life that leaves you centered, clear, and healthy.
